CSI: Vegas Season 2 - Episode 5
A.J. Tannen's character is the first one to bite the dust in the fifth episode of "CSI: Vegas'" second season. He plays an obnoxious braggadocious lawyer named Roland, who insists on proposing a toast at a pool party, unaware that his speech will be his last. While his final words are certainly captivating, his appearance may have caused some eagle-eyed fans to recall his appearance on "CSI: Cyber."

On March 31, 2021, it was announced that CSI: Vegas had officially been ordered to series, with Uta Briesewitz directing the pilot.[44] On December 15, 2021, CBS renewed the series for a second season.[1] CBS Entertainment president Kelly Kahl confirmed that the second season will be longer than 13 episodes, although the network currently has "not done a final tally yet".[45] In October 2022, Anthony E. Zuiker teased that the second season will consist of at least 17 episodes.[46] It was later revealed that the season would comprise 21 episodes in total.[21] On February 21, 2023, CBS renewed CSI: Vegas for a third season.[3][4]
On December 15, 2021, it was announced alongside the second season renewal that Petersen won't return as a cast member, though he would remain as executive producer. On January 25, 2022, it was announced that Fox will also not return for the second season.[50] Two days later, it was announced that Rodriguez would leave ahead of the second season as well.[51] On February 11, 2022, it was announced that Marg Helgenberger will reprise her role as Catherine Willows in the second season.[52] On May 24, 2022, it was announced that recurring actor Jay Lee would be upgraded to series regular and that Lex Medlin and Ariana Guerra would join the cast as regulars.[53] On December 15, 2022, it was reported that Eric Szmanda would reprise his role as Greg Sanders in several episodes during the latter half of the second season.[9][54]
The season regulars that will be featured in episode 6 are: Paula Newsome as character (Maxine Roby), Marg Helgenberger as character (Catherine Willows), Matt Lauria as character (Joshua Folsom), Mandeep Dhillon as character (Allie Rajan), Ariana Guerra as character (Detective Serena Chavez), Lex Medlin as character (Beau Finado) and Jay Lee as character (Chris Park).
Back in June, then-CBS Entertainment chief Kelly Kahl said that despite kicking off last year with just 10 episodes, CSI: Vegas is not by design a short-season series. To wit, Season 2 will consist of 21 episodes.
In the exclusive clip that was shared, CSI Chris Park (Jay Lee) and CSI Joshua Folsom (Matt Lauria) are having a conversation about Catherine coming out of retirement to assist Maxine Roby's (Paula Newsome) team. Park's curious to know if Catherine reached out to Gil & Sara for some background intel on the news team. That's when Folsom reveals that it would've been tough for Catherine to reach them since they were "on a boat above the Arctic Circle." Wow. So clearly, our deductive duo were looking to get as far away from CSI work as possible.
